Characterization results are returned in a report format, which includes estimates of molecular weight, isoelectric point, and relative hydrophobicity. (See the
2DE page for a system description.) Relative hydrophobicity is determined using an analytical Hydrophobic Interaction Column, calibrated with standard marker proteins.
For customers interested in a more detailed characterization, supplemental information on post-translational modification (glycosylation, phosphorylation, presence of cysteine residues, presence of disulfide bonds) and protein identification by tryptic digestion and mass spectrometry are available for additional charges.
